What are you Thankful for?

By Kristin Cavallaro, Knowledge and Data Analysis Specialist

Can you believe it is the end of November all ready?  In the US we are gearing up to eat our turkeys and watch some football…and who’s not excited about some pumpkin pie!  And then there’s the adventure of getting up at 4:00 the following morning to fight the crowds at the malls for the kick-off to the Holiday season.  As Thanksgiving approaches, we are taught to take a minute and reflect back on what we are thankful for in our lives.  In honor of Thanksgiving I thought I would take a moment and write about what I am thankful for in 2011 as it relates to research.

What are you thankful for?

1)   I’m thankful for Data Quality Initiatives.  Data quality is a sizzling hot topic right now and big issue facing all of us.  It is so awesome to see major industry organizations stepping up to the data quality challenge.  This is everyone’s fight and we need to tackle it as a team!

2)   I’m thankful for Blending!! It is absolutely amazing to see how far we have all come as an industry on the forefront of  blending and multi-sourcing.  Just last year it seemed like such a scary concept but now more and more researchers are understanding and adapting the multi-sourcing strategy.

3)   I have to be thankful for the SSI Blend and all the people who worked to put it in place.  It was a long time in the making but has come together nicely and will continue to improve as time goes on.

4)   And lastly, I’m thankful for Data!! I’ll admit, I’m a data dork…data makes me happy

Play Along! Share what you are thankful for.  To all of our International friends, we invite you to contribute too! I’m sure we all have something that happened or continues to happen in the industry or within your company that has impacted your life in a positive way.

To all of our U.S. friends, have a safe, healthy, and amazing Thanksgiving.
